Like so many, I have struggled with weight my whole life. I have fallen for so many gimmicks that I can't tell you all the ones I tried. I ridiculed every diet fad that came around because I just see a quick change that is short lived. Once you stop the diet, you put that weight back on and sometimes more! When I was ready to ditch the Holiday weight, i finally decided to take a hard look at my diet. It wasn't pretty.

I had considered the Keto diet to jumpstart my weight loss and purge all the sweet goodies I had fallen pray to over the Holidays. As I was looking at what you could and couldn't have, I started to realize that it really wasn't a great fit for me. I was restricted on fruits and some veggies while free to take in foods higher in fat and protein. While i am far from a Keto expert, it was around that time that I started to notice my already sensitive GI system start to really fall apart. I was having pain. Very real and intense sharp pain. Although I can't at for sure, I still wonder if that was what started it. I was not able to eat much at all so I was going for nutritional food. I found fruits and veggies were one of the few things I could eat without causing as much pain.

I had noticed that when I first started tracking calories, prior to the Keto diet, that I easily went over 2000 calories at times. I should actually only take in about 1800 calories per the app for maintenance. The app actually put me on a 1200 calorie count since I wanted to lose weight. Talk about a challenge. That is until I read an article on weight loss.

This was the first one I read that truly made sense to me. It said to eat your fruits and veggies first.🤔 I will be honest, I don't remember what else the article said but seriously...this made sense. When I was eating more fruits and veggies, my calories were lower. In my mind this is the perfect way to live. Fruits and vegetables offer so much nutrition that we should all be eating way more anyhow. Why not eat them all before the rest of your meal so you eat less of the higher calorie food? I am now at a point where I want and feel I need to learn more about eating more plant based foods.

I have now joined a clean eating challenge to learn from a lovely lady who will share lots of information. I am so excited to see where this leads!
